Canunda National Park

Canunda National Park is a nature reserve along the South Australian coast featuring limestone cliffs, rocky sea formations, and expansive dune systems. The landscape spans approximately 40 kilometers of shoreline, offering beaches and rock pools interspersed throughout.

The area served as home to the Boandik People over many generations, who established camps along the coastline and utilized this region. This ongoing occupation reflects the deep historical connection between Aboriginal communities and this coastal landscape.

The park has several camping areas near the coast that require advance booking for overnight visits. Visitors should prepare for dry conditions and changeable weather, noting that some coastal sections are accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles.

The area is known for its mobile dunes that constantly shift through wind action, creating changing beach profiles. Anglers regularly visit to catch mullet and salmon in the coastal waters.
