African Safari World, Safari park project in Werribee, Australia.
African Safari World was a planned entertainment project in Werribee near Melbourne. The development was intended to combine a wildlife park with ride attractions and different experience zones centered on African animal life.
Warner Village Theme Parks began planning in the early 2000s with an expected start in 2010. The government rejected the project in 2008.
The development included plans for numerous African-themed attractions, integrating wildlife education centers and conservation facilities within the entertainment complex.
The project was never built and exists only as a historical plan. Today you can visit the area in Werribee that was designated as the intended site.
The concept was a hybrid between traditional zoo and theme park, featuring planned attractions like a Serengeti Safari and a four-dimensional theatre. This combination of nature experience and mechanical rides was meant to draw a new audience.
