City of Manningham, Municipal division in eastern Melbourne, Australia.
The City of Manningham is a municipal area in eastern Melbourne that extends from Bulleen to Wonga Park. It encompasses residential neighborhoods and parks that form the character of this part of the greater Melbourne region.
European orchardists first settled the area in the 1850s and established farms across the landscape. The municipality we see today formed in 1994 from a restructuring of the former City of Doncaster & Templestowe.
The Wurundjeri people held strong ties to the land here, particularly along the Yarra River's southern banks before European settlers arrived. Visitors can find reminders of this heritage scattered throughout the municipality today.
The Manningham Civic Centre on Doncaster Road handles municipal services and is open to residents during weekdays. The area offers plenty of green spaces for walks and outdoor activities throughout the municipality.
Part of the area holds a green wedge classification that protects natural environments within Melbourne's metropolitan boundary. This designation preserves open land that would otherwise face urban development.
