Lerderderg State Park

The Lerderderg River flows through a 300-meter deep gorge, cutting through sandstone and slate formations within the 14,250-hectare park boundaries.

The park, officially established in 1988, incorporates the former Pyrete State Forest and stands as a protected natural reserve near Melbourne.

The land forms part of the Wurundjeri People's traditional territory, preserving their connection to the Australian landscape through generations.

Six designated walking trails accommodate different skill levels, with three short walks under 3.5 kilometers and three extended hikes reaching up to 22 kilometers.

During winter and spring, the park's terrain transforms as native wildflowers emerge across the landscape, adding color to the rocky gorge.
