Brooke Street Pier, Ferry terminal structure at Sullivans Cove, Hobart, Australia.
Brooke Street Pier is a floating terminal structure at Sullivans Cove with four levels enclosed in semi-translucent polycarbonate panels that glow with LED lighting. The facility functions as a ferry station, event venue, and market space serving both transportation and cultural activities.
This floating structure was completed in 2015 and became the largest floating building in Australia when it opened. The project represented a major redevelopment of Hobart's waterfront area.
A market space operates here where local producers and tourism operators showcase Tasmanian goods including fresh seafood, artisanal dairy, and regional wines. Visitors can taste and purchase these products while enjoying views of the cove.
The pier offers free WiFi and is easily accessible on foot from the waterfront promenade and nearby streets. Multiple entry points and accessible design make it convenient for all visitors to move around and access ferry services or events.
The structure features a genderless communal bathroom and uses seawater temperature for its environmental control systems. These sustainable design choices reflect an innovative approach to reducing environmental impact.
