NAB House, Office building in Hobart, Tasmania
NAB House is a 14-story office building that rises 58 meters above Hobart's central business district. The structure contains commercial spaces and banking facilities in a modern architectural design.
The building was completed in 1968 as the AMP Building, replacing a Victorian sandstone structure from 1884 at the same location. It held the title of Hobart's tallest building until 1973 when another tower surpassed it.
The sandstone archway from the 1913 predecessor building stands at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens as a connection to Hobart's architectural past.
The building stands at the corner of Collins and Elizabeth Streets in central Hobart and is easily accessible by public transport. Access to banking services and commercial spaces is available during regular business hours.
A sandstone archway from the original 1913 building was preserved and relocated to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. This remnant serves as a tangible link to the site's earlier architectural history before the modern tower was built.
