Graham Lodge, Colonial homestead in Nowra, Australia

Graham Lodge is a two-storey residence with a slate roof and detailed cedar woodwork, featuring multiple verandas that overlook the Shoalhaven region. The building displays typical Victorian Georgian architectural features with careful craftsmanship visible in every detail.

William Graham founded the estate in 1826, and his son James built the current structure in Victorian Georgian style between 1860 and 1861. This construction marked a significant shift from a simple farm property to a more substantial residence of that era.

The land where this lodge stands holds deep roots in Tharawal history and language, going back thousands of years before European settlement. Visitors can sense the connection to the original inhabitants when walking through the grounds and surroundings.

The property is maintained by Shoalhaven City Council and is open to the public to explore its architectural features and historical elements. Visitors should take time to examine the verandas and woodwork closely, as many details reveal themselves only upon careful observation.

The building underwent several transformations from a family residence to Prague Lodge and later to Nowra Bomaderry Leagues Club, reflecting its varied past. These different phases show how the structure adapted to meet changing community needs over the generations.
