Defence House, Government office building in Wellington, New Zealand
Defence House stretches eight floors high with modern architectural features and stands as a notable structure in the Wellington cityscape at Stout Street.
The building served as the headquarters for the New Zealand Defence Force until 2007, when personnel relocated due to facility modernization requirements.
The Heritage New Zealand Category 2 designation recognizes Defence House as a structure with substantial architectural and administrative importance to the nation.
In 2014, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment consolidated its operations by moving 2,000 employees from five separate locations to Defence House.
The building underwent a substantial transformation, with investments of 16 million dollars for renovations and 70,000 dollars for new exterior signage.
