Petone Settlers Museum, Historical museum in Lower Hutt City, New Zealand
The Settlers Museum occupies the Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial building on the Petone foreshore, featuring exhibits about local settlement patterns.
The museum building opened in 1940 to mark Wellington province centennial celebrations and later transformed into a museum space in 1977.
The exhibitions present the stories of European settlers and Te Āti Awa chiefs who established agreements for land use around Wellington harbour.
The museum provides educational programs for students from Year 1 to Year 13, with guided tours available for school groups and families.
The structure includes a stone replica of the Aurora ship's prow and original tiled foot baths from its previous function as a bathing pavilion.
