Father Sylvester Bongiorno conducted services in Italian, providing religious guidance to the growing Italian population in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area.
The church building requires maintenance work to address structural issues, including repairs to the roof and problems with rising damp.
The church stands as the oldest structure in New South Wales built specifically by and for an Italian community that remains active today.
