The Chinese Graves and Burner at Nyngan Cemetery contains nine grave markers with inscriptions in both Mandarin and English, alongside a rectangular brick burner.
During the 1850s gold rush, numerous Chinese individuals migrated to Australia, establishing a community in Nyngan with burials documented from 1913 to 1924.
The burial ground incorporates traditional Chinese funerary practices, including a ceremonial burner for offering paper goods and food items to deceased family members.
Located on Cemetery Road, the site received official recognition on the New South Wales State Heritage Register in March 2009, preserving its historical documentation.
The brick burner measures 2,150 millimeters in height and features specific architectural elements designed for efficient burning of ceremonial offerings during rituals.
