Valvoline Raceway, racing venue in Eastern Creek, New South Wales
Valvoline Raceway is a motorsport racing track with a dirt surface in New South Wales, primarily known for hosting sprintcar races. The roughly half-mile oval features gentle curves and short straights where spectators can watch fast-moving cars from grandstands positioned close to the action.
The facility opened in 2022 following the closure of the original Sydney Speedway in 2021 and is located in Eastern Creek near Sydney Dragway. The new venue was built to revive local sprintcar racing and continue a tradition that began in the late 1970s when Sid Hopping established the first purpose-built dirt track for these races in Sydney.
The name comes from Valvoline, the oil company that sponsors the venue. The track serves as a gathering place where the local racing community comes together, sharing their passion for motorsport and keeping the tradition of dirt track racing alive in the region.
The venue is easily accessible by car with nearby parking, especially busy on race days during the racing season. Plan to arrive early for better seating options, and you will find vendors selling food, drinks, and racing merchandise throughout the grounds.
The track was approved in 2020 after the original venue had to make way for the Sydney Metro rail project, underscoring how important the site is to the local racing community. Interestingly, scenes from the film Midnite Spares were shot at the previous speedway, showing the venue's place in Australian motorsport culture.
