Hampton Villa on Grafton Street features Georgian-inspired architecture with a wide verandah and sandstone construction overlooking Sydney Harbour.
Edward Hunt, a cabinetmaker who became an alderman of Sydney, commissioned architect John Verge to design the villa between 1847 and 1849.
The residence hosted New South Wales Premier Henry Parkes from 1888 to 1892, during significant Federation discussions of Australian government.
The property underwent restoration in the 1970s, converting it from multiple flats back to its original function as a single-family residence.
The villa grounds contain Cocos Island palms and maintain the original garden layout from its construction period.
