Royal Prince Alfred Hospital - Admission Block

The Admission Block is a hospital building with cream brick facades and sandstone details, topped by an entrance portico featuring granite columns in the Victorian Free Classical style. A central hall extension connects this historic structure to the hospital's newer medical facilities.

Hospital construction began in 1876 as a monument to Prince Alfred's recovery from an assassination attempt, and the Admission Block opened in 1882. Those early years shaped the architecture and purpose of the building that endures today.
