Sewage Pumping Station 3

The Booth Street facility combines a single-story brick building with a concrete substructure containing machinery and sewage chambers for water management operations.

Built between 1902 and 1904 by the New South Wales Public Works Department, this station emerged as a response to severe harbor pollution in Sydney.

The station exhibits Federation Queen Anne architectural elements, including a corrugated iron gambrel roof, timber windows, and precisely crafted tuck pointed brickwork.

The building retains an original wall-mounted lifting crane and interior walls rendered to simulate ashlar coursing, representing early 20th-century engineering techniques.
