Bradleys Head Light, Navigation lighthouse in Sydney Harbour, Australia
Bradleys Head Light is a small cylindrical concrete lighthouse situated on a headland within Sydney Harbour. It emits a green light to mark a key navigation point for vessels moving through the harbour waters.
This structure was built in 1905 as a replacement for an earlier navigation light that operated from 1847. It became part of Sydney's maritime infrastructure and continues to serve vessels in the harbour today.
The lighthouse grounds sit beside a memorial space dedicated to Australian sailors, creating a place where visitors encounter stories of maritime loss and remembrance.
The site is surrounded by walking trails and picnic areas, accessible via Bradleys Head Road within the national park. You can reach it on foot and enjoy views across the harbour from various points nearby.
A sandstone Doric column nearby, salvaged from Sydney's former General Post Office, once measured vessel speeds in the harbour. This remnant connects the working harbour with the city's urban heritage.
