Clovelly Beach

Clovelly Beach is a sand beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs located between two rocky ridges at the end of a sheltered bay. Concrete platforms and promenades line both sides, providing access and walkways for visitors moving around the water's edge.

The beach was originally known as Little Coogee before receiving its current name in 1913, inspired by a coastal village in north Devon, England. This name change reflects the British influences that shaped Sydney's early growth.

The beach serves as a gathering place for the local community, especially during warmer months when swimmers and sun seekers come together regularly. The rocky sides create a sheltered feeling that encourages people of all ages to return, making it a social hub for the neighborhood.

The beach includes a saltwater pool, changing facilities, a cafe, and lifeguard services throughout the day from early morning until evening. The protected bay with its rocky sides makes it suitable for swimmers of varying abilities who want a safe place to swim and relax.

The waters are home to a resident Blue Groper fish that swimmers regularly encounter and observe during their visits. This regular encounter with this distinctive marine creature creates a memorable experience for many visitors.
