Clydesdale, Marsden Park

Clydesdale is a homestead and working farm in Marsden Park spanning roughly 865 acres with Georgian design features. The two-storey brick building displays a hipped slate roof and three-sided verandah, which frame the front entrance and create covered outdoor space.

The property originated from a land grant to William Lang in 1813 and later changed hands and purposes several times. It served as a seminary, dairy operation, wartime convalescent facility, and other uses over its 200-year history.

The homestead displays cedar banisters carved by RAAF pilots when the property served as a convalescent home from 1924 to 1945. These carvings tell the story of wartime use and the people who recovered here.

The property sits on Richmond Road with convenient access to nearby Riverstone Train Station and local services throughout the Blacktown area. Wear sturdy footwear since the expansive grounds include paths and outdoor terrain that become slippery in wet conditions.

An underground tunnel once linked the main house to the stables but was covered over with plantings during the 1930s. This hidden passage reveals how the property's layout once connected domestic and working areas beneath the ground.
