Little Manly Beach, Harbor beach in Manly, Australia
Little Manly Beach sits along Sydney Harbour's northern shore, separated from the main Manly Cove by Manly Point. The shoreline is equipped with public toilets, showers, a concrete boat ramp, and a kiosk offering food throughout the day.
James Meehan surveyed the area in 1809 and clearly labeled it as 'Little Manly' in his field notes. Men's bathing houses were built at the western end of the cove in 1880 and have survived through ongoing maintenance and rebuilding after storms.
The beach serves as a gathering spot where locals and visitors spend time together, with shaded picnic areas and a playground that overlook the water.
The beach offers calm, shallow water suitable for families with young children. Be aware that the water level drops noticeably at low tide, exposing rocky areas along the shore.
The heritage bathing houses at the western end have survived for over 140 years through constant renewal and repair after storm damage. These structures show how the community values and maintains its traditional facilities.
