Lamington National Park, Nature reserve in Gold Coast City, Australia.

Lamington National Park is an elevated national park in Queensland featuring subtropical rainforest with ancient trees and waterfalls scattered throughout mountainous terrain. An extensive network of walking tracks winds through the landscape, connecting different sections and viewpoints.

The area became World Heritage protected as part of Gondwana Rainforests, preserving plant remains from vegetation that covered the ancient supercontinent millions of years ago. These botanical remnants provide a window into Earth's distant past.

The Yugambeh people call this mountain range Woonoongoora and regard the peaks as sacred places of deep spiritual importance to their traditions. This connection to the land continues to shape how the region is understood and valued today.

The park is accessible through two main entry points: Binna Burra and Green Mountains, both offering accommodation, guided walks, and educational programs. Bring sturdy footwear and rain protection, as the terrain is steep and the climate stays humid.

The park is home to over 150 rare bird species, including the Albert's Lyrebird, which performs intricate vocal mimicry found nowhere else in Australia. This ability makes the bird a special highlight for birdwatchers visiting the area.
