St Agnes Anglican Church, Esk, Heritage-listed Anglican church in Esk, Australia.
St Agnes Anglican Church in Esk is a timber building with a steep metal gable roof and lancet windows featuring leadlight glazing. The structure displays classic Victorian architecture with weatherboard walls on Ipswich Street.
The church was built in 1889 by builder Lars Andersen from designs by architect John Hingeston Buckeridge after Ellen Webb donated the land. The site developed over time as additional structures were added to support the community.
The church complex includes a rectory, hall, and sandstone gate pillars honoring pioneer Francis Edward Bigge, designed by stonemason Andrew Petrie.
Walking around the site allows you to observe the external architecture and how the building sits in its surroundings. The former rectory building nearby, dating from 1901, now operates as a restaurant while maintaining heritage features.
The leadlight windows were handcrafted by artist William Bustard and demonstrate the skilled artistry of the period. Original wooden pews inside preserve the appearance of the church from when it first opened.
