St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Esk, Presbyterian church building in Esk, Australia
St Andrews Presbyterian Church is a timber-framed building on Ipswich Street in Esk with Gothic features including lancet windows, a belfry, and wide beaded boards. The property includes a wooden hall and manse alongside the main sanctuary for community and religious purposes.
David and Mary McConnel donated the land for construction in 1873, with the building completed by 1876 and opening for worship. It remained a center of religious life in the Brisbane Valley for over a century afterward.
The church initially served as a shared space where different religious groups worshiped together before becoming exclusively Presbyterian. Local families gathered here for weddings, baptisms, and celebrations that marked important moments in their lives.
The main entrance faces west at the corner of Middle and Ipswich Streets, making it easy to locate. The building is accessible today as a venue and remains in well-kept condition with its original architectural details intact.
The building served the community for over 125 years until 2003 before changing purposes. Today it functions as a wedding venue while preserving its original wooden construction and Gothic details.
