HOTA - Home of the Arts, Art museum and cultural center in Gold Coast, Australia
HOTA is an art museum and cultural center in Gold Coast with several buildings housing art galleries, theaters, and performance spaces. The complex spreads across a site featuring parks and a lake that connects various types of artistic venues and exhibition areas.
The center was founded in 1986 and was originally called Keith Hunt Community Entertainment and Arts Centre. It went through several name changes before becoming HOTA in 2018.
The center displays contemporary and traditional artworks from local and international artists. Visitors encounter different forms of artistic expression that change regularly throughout the year.
The site features multiple exhibition spaces, a 1200-seat theater, two cinemas, function rooms, an outdoor stage, and restaurants spread across the buildings. Plan to spend time exploring the different venues and enjoy the parklands between the structures.
The gallery addition completed in 2021 spans six levels and is the largest public gallery space outside an Australian capital city. This expansion significantly increased the complex's capacity to display contemporary artworks.
