Construction began in 1869 under architect Richard George Suter, with James Taylor donating the land at the intersection of Mort and Russell Streets.
The church includes rare examples of polychrome brickwork in Queensland, reflecting architectural techniques from English and southern Australian religious buildings.
Located at 145 Mort Street, the church received multiple structural updates, including a new iron sheet roof replacing the original slate in the 1890s.
The interior displays hammer beam roof trusses and dark stained timber furniture, maintaining its original English gothic revival characteristics.
