St James Parish Hall, Toowoomba

The red brick building at 112 Russell Street features a steep terracotta tiled roof, exposed trusses, and decorative timber brackets throughout its structure.

Built in 1912 by architect Henry James Marks, the hall stands on land donated by James Taylor, who contributed to early Toowoomba development.

The hall contains reading rooms, a library, and gathering spaces that serve local community activities and Sunday school classes throughout the week.

The building incorporates extendable casement windows and a patented hollow wall construction system that maximizes ventilation while reducing construction costs.

Three distinct turrets crown the structure, each topped with different finials, while a commemorative brick fence with crucifix-shaped concrete trim borders the property.
