Keating residence, Indooroopilly

The Keating Residence is a two-story building of rendered masonry featuring a pyramidal tower and multiple gabled projections fronting Westminster Road. The structure combines architectural elements from its construction period with distinctive windows and roofline details throughout its facade.

Merchant and newspaper proprietor Louis Stamm commissioned architect Richard Gailey to design this residence during the 1890s expansion of Indooroopilly. The house reflects the prosperity and building preferences of successful businessmen in colonial Queensland during that era.

The residence displays architectural details from the Federation period with timber wall panels, pressed metal ceilings, and original windows that visitors can still observe. These decorative elements reveal how prosperous households furnished their homes in the early 1900s.

The residence sits on Westminster Road at a convenient location accessible through established residential streets connecting to nearby facilities in the area. Visitors should note that entry involves a multi-part staircase and the grounds include some level changes requiring attention when walking.

The interior retains intact fittings from a 1920s renovation phase including distinctive terrazzo tile patterns and leadlight windows spread across multiple rooms.
