Beth-Eden, Heritage-listed house in Graceville, Australia

The residence at 85 Bank Road features classical mouldings, decorative cast iron balustrading, and a weatherboard timber construction overlooking the Chelmer Reach river.

Charles Hardie Buzacott, a newspaper proprietor, commissioned architect Richard Gailey to construct this villa, initially named Verney, in 1888.

The property served as a convalescent home for World War I soldiers in 1919 when the Ferguson family lent it to the Australian Red Cross.

The building houses administrative offices and contains multiple structures, including the original weatherboard stables that have been converted into a garage.

The property underwent several name changes, from Verney to Rakeevan, inspired by an Irish residence, before receiving its current name Beth-Eden in 1958.
