Halifax Bay Wetlands National Park

Halifax Bay Wetlands National Park extends over 4.47 square kilometers of saltmarsh, mudflats, and mangrove forests along the Queensland coastline.

The Queensland government established this protected area in 1994 to safeguard critical wetland ecosystems and preserve natural water filtration systems.

Local Indigenous communities maintain strong connections to these wetlands, which have supported traditional fishing and gathering practices for generations.

Visitors can access designated walking tracks throughout the park to observe native birds and study the diverse wetland environments.

The park contains 3,595 hectares of intertidal zones, where mangroves and saltflats create essential spawning grounds for barramundi and mangrove jack fish.
