Ko Olina Beach Park is a privately owned and maintained lagoon-front setting at the east end of the 642-acre Ko Olina Resort on the west side of Oahu, Hawaii. It is adjacent to the white-sand Ulua Lagoon, one of four lagoons in the resort, and the Ko Olina Marina. The lagoon is protected by a breakwater reef, keeping ocean conditions relatively calm.
The coastal area was transformed into a planned resort community with protected lagoons and recreational facilities. This development created sheltered swimming areas that are safer and more accessible than natural waters.
The name Ko Olina means "place of joy" in Hawaiian, and the resort's four lagoons carry names such as Ulua, Nai'a, Kohola and Honu, referring to the ulua fish, dolphins, humpback whales and green sea turtles found offshore. The Grand Lawn at the east end hosts outdoor gatherings beside the marina.
Visitors can find parking from sunrise to sunset and should know that the park gets crowded on hot days. Coming early in the morning helps you avoid the busiest times.
The four lagoons are protected by engineered breakwater reefs that keep the water calm year-round. This protection makes them ideal for swimming since waves and strong currents rarely occur.
