Western Museum of Flight, Aviation museum at Zamperini Field, Torrance, United States

The Western Museum of Flight is an aviation museum located at Zamperini Field that houses a collection of aircraft from different eras of flight. The exhibits feature experimental planes, unmanned aircraft, piston engines, and jet engines that show how aircraft design and technology evolved over time.

The museum began in 1985 after the restoration of a Northrop N-3PB Nomad, and it is operated by the Southern California Historical Aviation Foundation at Zamperini Field. In 2006 a potential rent increase threatened it with closure. Its collection holds the second Northrop YF-23 demonstrator and the first Northrop YF-17 Cobra.

The museum runs a Celebrity Lecture Series with aviation figures; speakers have included Captain Gil Rud, a Blue Angels flight leader. The collection also holds historic photographs and blueprints from Southern California aircraft manufacturing.

Visitors can take their time exploring the various aircraft and engines and learning about aviation technology at their own pace. The location at the airport also offers views of active flight operations in the area.

The museum holds the crewed Northrop JB-1 Bat glider, one of only two surviving Jack Northrop flying wings; the other, the N-1M, is at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The collection also keeps historic photographs and blueprints from Southern California aircraft manufacturing.
