Rodeo Drive, Shopping street in Beverly Hills, United States

Rodeo Drive is a street in Beverly Hills divided by Wilshire Boulevard into N. Rodeo Drive and S. Rodeo Drive, running about 2 miles (3.2 km) from Sunset Boulevard to S. Beverwil Drive. The northern section is a four-lane road split by a median and partly lined with palm trees; the southern section is a two-lane street with offices and homes. The three blocks of N. Rodeo Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards hold luxury boutiques, including the Via Rodeo complex with fountains, a piazza and a Spanish Steps-style stairway.

Rodeo Drive takes its name from El Rodeo de las Aguas, the Spanish rendering of a Native American phrase for a gathering of water, as fertile marshes lay here during Spanish colonial rule. Until the early 1950s the road was little more than a bridle path; only in the 1970s did the three-block, roughly 500-metre stretch of N. Rodeo Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards become a luxury shopping street. Brian De Palma filmed scenes of Body Double in The Rodeo Collection in 1984, and Julia Roberts walked the street in Pretty Woman.

The name comes from the Spanish El Rodeo de las Aguas, "gathering of waters", for the marshes that once lay here. The three-block stretch of N. Rodeo Drive between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards became a shopping promenade only in the 1970s. Each year on the third Sunday of June, Father's Day, the street hosts a Concours d'Elegance that displays classic cars to the public.

Free two-hour parking is available at nearby Civic Center structures, making it easy to explore without parking concerns. The flat terrain and wide sidewalks allow for comfortable walking while browsing the shops.

The Rodeo Drive Walk of Style honors fashion industry leaders with permanent plaques embedded in the sidewalk pavement since 2003. Visitors can spot these subtle tributes while strolling along the street.
