Culver City

Culver City is a charter city in Los Angeles County, California, occupying a compact area between West Los Angeles and the airport. The center runs along Washington Boulevard, mixing low commercial buildings with newer high-rises, while residential streets and small shopping plazas fill the surrounding blocks.

The city was founded in 1917 and grew rapidly when major film studios moved here in the 1920s, turning the area into a key entertainment industry location. After some studios withdrew, the district transformed again from the 1990s onward, drawing smaller media firms and start-ups.

Culver City has grown as a place where film industry professionals live and work, with production houses and editing studios scattered across quiet streets. The local dining scene reflects this creative community, offering spots where writers and technicians meet over coffee and late lunches between shoots.

The city is easily reached by several major roads and offers public parking at many spots downtown. Walking works well for most destinations within the center, while the Metro line provides fast connections to other parts of the metropolitan area.

A notable detail is the old Helms Bakery building with its tall tower, which served as a regional landmark for decades and now houses a design and furniture center. The wide loading docks and high ceilings still recall the industrial past, while the spaces now hold showrooms and restaurants.
