Colonel Fletcher Building, Commercial building in Core district, San Diego, US.
Colonel Fletcher Building stands at the northeast corner of 6th and Broadway as a four-story structure with commercial space throughout. Today the building houses a brewery, a cosmetics shop, law offices, and design firms on its various floors.
Built between 1906 and 1908 by Ed Fletcher and Frank Salmans, the building originally served as a two-story department store. It was later expanded to four stories to accommodate changing business needs.
The building exemplifies early 20th-century commercial architecture and remains a central part of San Diego's downtown retail district development.
The building sits in the heart of downtown San Diego and is easy to reach from nearby areas. Since different tenants keep their own hours, it helps to check in advance which shops or offices you plan to visit.
The building underwent a significant shift from its original role as a department store to a mixed-use commercial space serving different purposes. This transformation reflects how retail and downtown commerce evolved in the city over more than a century.
