The Del Mar Fairgrounds is a large event venue along California's Pacific coast that contains multiple exhibition halls, an arena, and a one-mile oval racetrack. The grounds feature wide-open spaces designed to accommodate many different types of events and gatherings.
The grounds opened in 1936 and gained national attention two years later through a horse race that was broadcast across the country. During World War II, the site was temporarily converted into a military manufacturing facility that produced aircraft components.
