Azusa Pacific University is a Christian institution of higher education in Azusa, California, with two main campuses and seven regional sites throughout Southern California. The institution offers more than 100 degree programs in fields such as liberal arts, sciences, theology, business, and health care.
The institution was founded in 1899 as the Training School for Christian Workers to prepare evangelical missionaries. It became Pacific Bible College in 1939 before gaining full status as a university in 1981.
Around 1000 students take part each year in programs like City Links and Mexico Outreach, working directly with neighborhoods across the region. These programs link classroom learning with hands-on work in charitable organizations and community projects.
The campus libraries hold a collection of around 240,000 books, media items, and special materials, including fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls. These materials are available for academic research and student projects.
Eight research centers on campus focus on topics such as ethics, values, science, and vocational ministry. These centers have earned the institution an R2 classification for high research activity.
