Celebrity Theatre, Historic circular theatre in Phoenix, United States

Celebrity Theatre is a low, wide concrete building in Phoenix, Arizona, designed by Beverly Hills architect Perry Neuschatz as a 196-foot-diameter multipurpose conference and cultural center. Its round stage, 30 feet in diameter, is exposed to the audience on all sides, and none of the 2,650 seats is more than 70 feet from it. The exterior has a continuous row of deep rectangular openings between projecting vertical fins, four pale blue panels between concrete columns, and a recessed entrance with a sign.

Beverly Hills architect Perry Neuschatz designed the 196-foot-diameter building, which opened on January 13, 1964 with South Pacific starring Betsy Palmer. It was first named Phoenix Star Theatre (1963–1968), then Travelodge Center (1968–1972), before taking the name Celebrity Theatre. It was renovated in 1995 and again in 2021, and was listed on the Phoenix Historic Property Register in 2013 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

The round stage drew comedians: George Carlin filmed his second HBO special, George Carlin: Again!, here in 1978, called the first stand-up routine done in the round. Louis C.K. filmed Oh My God here in February 2013 and had the stage painted blue to match how it looked for Carlin. Nate Bargatze and Tom Segura also filmed specials here in 2022.

The venue holds 2,650 seats and offers parking on-site for visitors. The box office operates only a few days each week, so it is wise to check ahead before visiting.

For the first six years, the stage was turned by hand, after Liberace suggested that it spin; an electric motor replaced the manual system in 1969. The stage can complete a full revolution at up to 0.5 revolutions per minute, so every seat sees every part of it during a two-hour show.
