La Encantada, Outdoor shopping centre in Catalina Foothills, Tucson, US.
La Encantada is a two-level outdoor shopping centre at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. Open-air walkways connect shops, restaurants, and cafes across both floors.
The centre opened in 2004 and brought a new level of upscale retail to southern Arizona. Its arrival changed what shoppers in the Tucson area expected to find locally.
La Encantada uses stone walkways, terracotta details, and native desert plants drawn directly from Southwestern building traditions. Visitors walking through the corridors notice how the local landscape has been folded into the design itself.
Most walkways are outdoors, so bringing sun protection is a good idea, especially between late spring and early fall. Parking on the property is free, and the centre is open daily with longer hours Thursday through Saturday.
The central courtyard hosts community events and charity fundraisers throughout the year, drawing people who are not necessarily shopping. Two of the brands found here have no other location in Tucson.
