The Paso del Norte International Bridge spans 982 feet across the Rio Grande with four lanes for northbound vehicle traffic and pedestrian paths.
Built in 1967 following the Chamizal Treaty, this bridge emerged from an agreement that resolved a century-old border dispute between Mexico and the United States.
The bridge stands as a meeting point between two nations, processing more than 10 million border crossings annually through its dedicated inspection stations.
Travelers with RFID-enabled documents can access designated Ready Lanes, while pedestrians pay 50 cents for southbound crossings at city-operated toll booths.
The structure maintains separate pathways for vehicles and pedestrians, with a capacity to process up to 12 vehicle lanes and 14 pedestrian lanes simultaneously.
