Magic Landing, Former amusement park in El Paso, Texas, United States
Magic Landing was an amusement park in El Paso that offered various rides and attractions for families. The grounds featured a narrow-gauge railway called the Old Galveston Railway that circled the entire park area.
The park opened on July 4, 1984, and operated attractions that were partly acquired from the closed Castle Park Arcade. It closed in 1988 following a 1985 accident that caused a sharp drop in attendance.
The park represented a significant entertainment destination for El Paso residents during the 1980s, operating alongside Western Playland as one of two amusement parks.
The site is now a storage facility and few original structures remain visible from the public areas. Visitors can only find the old sign frame and the foundations of the former ticket booth on the grounds.
A tragic accident in 1985 occurred when an employee attempted to retrieve a baseball hat from the roller coaster tracks. This event had deep consequences for the park's operations and led to a rapid decline in visitors.
