Ysleta–Zaragoza International Bridge, International toll bridge between El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico
The Ysleta-Zaragoza Bridge spans the Rio Grande with two parallel four-lane structures, one dedicated to trucks and one to private vehicles. Each carries thousands of vehicles daily during peak hours.
The original bridge opened in 1938 and underwent renovation in 1955, while the current structure was completed in 1990. It was expanded to handle increasing cross-border traffic demands.
The structure connects two border communities and enables daily interactions between families and workers living on opposite sides. People use it to visit relatives or commute to jobs across the frontier.
The crossing operates 24 hours daily and offers specialized SENTRI and FAST lanes for pre-approved travelers to speed up border passage. Payment is required and varies by vehicle type and time of day.
The structure features separate lanes for trucks and private cars, allowing different traffic flows to be optimized. Pedestrians can cross on dedicated pathways in both directions.
