El Paso Zoo, Wildlife sanctuary in El Paso, Texas.

El Paso Zoo is a wildlife park spread across multiple acres with four distinct sections representing Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Chihuahuan Desert. Each area houses animals in settings designed to resemble their natural homes, with over 200 species on display.

The facility was established in the 1930s and has evolved over the decades into a recognized institution for animal care. Its development reflects growing efforts to protect wildlife and improve conditions for captive animals.

The zoo is organized by world regions, with animals displayed in ways that reflect how they live together in nature. Walking through each section, visitors discover the connections between different ecosystems and the creatures that inhabit them.

The zoo is easy to navigate with clearly marked sections, and most visitors can walk through all areas on foot in a few hours. Wear comfortable shoes and prepare for heat, as shaded spots are limited in many parts.

The facility houses rare animals such as Indian rhinoceroses and Malayan tigers that are uncommon in zoos worldwide. These specimens are part of breeding programs aimed at protecting species at risk of disappearing.
