Bahía Solano

Bahía Solano stretches along the Pacific coast with black sand beaches, dense rainforests, and mountain ranges meeting the ocean at 152 meters elevation.

The region developed as a settlement where indigenous Emberá communities established their territories alongside the Pacific coast before Spanish colonial times.

The population combines Afro-Colombian and indigenous Emberá traditions, manifesting in local fishing practices, traditional dances, and culinary preparations.

Visitors reach the area through José Celestino Mutis airport or by boat from Nuquí and Buenaventura, with local transportation provided by tuk-tuks.

The waters off Bahía Solano serve as a nursery for humpback whales between July and October, when mothers teach their calves survival skills.
