Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Santa Fe de Antioquia, Neoclassical cathedral in Santa Fe de Antioquia, Colombia.

The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is a neoclassical structure featuring a single tower rising 47 meters (154 feet) that dominates the city skyline. The interior is divided into three naves, with semicircular arches supported by Tuscan columns throughout the space.

The building was constructed in 1797 under architect Domingo de Petrés, representing the architectural tastes of the colonial period in South America. It became a turning point in regional religious architecture and influenced the design of many churches that followed.

The cathedral displays religious artworks from the colonial period and continues to serve as the main place of worship for the local community. Inside, visitors can see paintings and sculptures that reflect the spiritual traditions of the region.

The cathedral sits on the northeastern side of the main square and is easy to locate when exploring the city center. It welcomes visitors throughout the year, and the experience is particularly meaningful during religious services when the space comes alive.

The building blends neoclassical forms with baroque details, creating a rare mix of two styles in a single structure that visitors often overlook. This stylistic fusion made it a model for other religious buildings in the surrounding region.
