The initial construction of the church took place from 1792 to 1796, following orders from the Bishop of Popayán to replace an older chapel.
The church houses numerous religious art pieces and artifacts brought from Spain, including paintings of apostles and the Virgin of Rosary of Guadalupe.
Both the original chapel and the newer church building remain operational, offering regular mass services to residents and visitors in downtown Bello.
Former Colombian President Marco Fidel Suárez received baptism in this church, adding to its historical importance in the region.
