Description

Plaza de Toros Cañaveralejo is a bullring with a circular design, where a 42-meter diameter ring is surrounded by grandstands seating about 14,000 spectators. The structure is supported by steel cables and features multiple entrances as well as comprehensive facilities for performers and visitors.

History

Engineer Guillermo González Zuleta completed construction of this reinforced concrete structure in 1957, with the first bullfight held on December 28 of that year. The building has been continuously used since and became a significant cultural landmark in the city.

Culture

This venue is the center of bullfighting tradition in the region and hosts performances mainly during December and January celebrations. Visitors witness the characteristic red costumes and ritualistic practices that have been part of local life for generations.
