Parque de la bailarina, Memorial park in El Poblado district, Medellín, Colombia.
Parque de la Bailarina is a memorial park in the El Poblado district that stretches between 7th and 9th streets along 43E Avenue. It functions as an environmental corridor connecting the Astorga and Patio Bonito neighborhoods through green space.
The park opened in 2009, named after Isabel Cristina Restrepo Cárdenas, a classical ballet dancer who died at this location in 2008. Its creation transformed the site from a place of tragedy into a community gathering space.
The space hosts monthly dance performances and cultural activities organized by the Alas de Mariposa artistic collective. These events draw attention to violence prevention and bring together neighbors and visitors from across the city.
Located in central Medellín, the park provides green spaces where you can walk and observe various birds and squirrels among the trees. The area is accessible throughout the day and serves as a pleasant route through the neighborhood.
A sculpture honoring Isabel Cristina Restrepo Cárdenas is planned for installation in the park, drawing artists and dancers who wish to celebrate her legacy. This artwork will serve as a focal point for remembrance and future cultural expression.
