Centro Mayor, Shopping center in southern Bogotá, Colombia
Centro Mayor is a shopping center in southern Bogotá with three floors housing 430 retail spaces, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The building covers a large area and features multiple access points from Autopista Sur.
The shopping center opened in March 2010 and became the largest of its kind in Colombia. The complex arose in an area that was previously less commercially developed and changed the surroundings considerably.
Eight interior plazas bear circus performer names and display oversized figures that stand more than four meters tall. Shoppers walk among these sculptures as they move through different sections of the building.
The center opens daily in the morning and closes in the evening, with multiple parking areas available along Autopista Sur. The three floors connect via escalators and elevators, making all sections easy to reach.
Each plaza carries the name of a circus discipline such as Contortionista, Equilibrista, or Malabarista. These zones serve as landmarks that help visitors find their way among the shops.
