Parque Metropolitano El Tunal

Parque Metropolitano El Tunal is a large green space in southeastern Bogotá with various sports facilities and recreational features spread throughout the grounds. It includes artificial lakes, soccer fields, tennis courts, a basketball court, a skating rink, cycling paths, and walking trails that connect different areas.

The site began as farmland in the 1970s near the San Carlos canal and was later transformed into a public recreational park. This conversion created an important green space for the expanding city.

The park draws people from surrounding neighborhoods who gather to play sports, exercise, and spend time with family and friends in an open space. You see joggers, athletes, and families using the grounds daily, turning the area into a vibrant social hub.

The park is open to visitors from early morning until evening each day with access to all sports facilities during operating hours. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes since the grounds are extensive and you will be walking between different areas.

The grounds are home to more than 400 native tree species including walnut, beech, caper, myrtle, and yellow trumpet trees. This diverse plant life makes the park a place where you can experience the local highland vegetation.
