Iglesia de San Agustín, Bogotá

The Iglesia de San Agustín is a colonial church with a three-nave basilica structure, Tuscan columns, and semi-circular arched windows across its main facade. The building occupies the intersection of Carrera 7 and Calle 7, positioned behind the Presidential Palace in downtown Bogota.

Construction began in 1642 and followed the architectural standards of the Spanish colonial period. The building's completion took place over several decades, representing the evolution of religious architecture during this era.

The interior displays baroque altarpieces covered in gold leaf, along with sculptures and paintings showing scenes from Christ's life and portraits of Augustinian Order members. These artworks tell stories that worshippers have observed for centuries.
