Teatro San Jorge, Art deco movie theater in central Bogotá, Colombia.
The Teatro San Jorge features a symmetrical facade with two prominent towers on its northern and southern sides, extending beyond the central section of the building.
Inaugurated in 1938 following designs by architect Alberto Manrique Martín, the theater emerged as one of the most refined cinemas in Bogotá during the 1940s.
The theater maintained an exclusive contract with Metro Goldwyn Mayer, screening American films and notable Colombian productions including the first sound film from the capital.
The Instituto Distrital de las Artes acquired the building in 2014 with plans to restore the structure and transform it into a multi-purpose cultural venue.
The facade displays various high reliefs, including a representation of Saint George, which also appeared on the theater's admission tickets during its operation.
